In 1568, Tico was appointed as a canon at the Cathedral of Rusk Gild. He spent 14 months in Augsburg learning how to make high-precision astronomical instruments. His ambition was to build quality instruments that would allow him to make observations true to within one arc minute or one-sixtyth of a degree. In some of the accounts I read, the things he did were astonishing, given the tools that he had.
