The Cost of Data Portability

The biggest obstacle to porting data is the pricing issue among the three major cloud providers around data transfer. Moving data, particularly out of the cloud providers, is absolutely an economic non-starter for many customers. While there was once a focus on customer retention via innovation and customer satisfaction, it seems there's been a steady shift towards making migrations painful enough along various axes that customers choose to continue with their existing providers.
