The Importance of Prudence in Moral Virtue
David: How is this an improvement upon Aristotle and in Aristotle's use of the concept of prudence? Alex: Machiavelli doesn't do that. He gives you lists of opposites, but he doesn't tell you when. And then he kind of says, well, there's this think prudence and a sexual truth and blah, blah, blah,. It seems a little odd, right? David: Maybe we should table this question; it might be good to have a conversation as a follow up to this on courage in the ethics.
