The UK's Role in Sudan
The immediate refugee flows will be to Egypt and the neighbouring countries, but we can expect to see them looking further afield. Many have links to the United Kingdom and will be wanting to come here. Has there been any significant role for British diplomacy in Sudan recently? Sadly, rather little. Britain is much on the sidelines and can only bemoan the refugees that will be coming our way. If the fighting continues, is it at all realistic to put an estimate on how many people will be displaced? Millions.
