When you close your eyes to meditate, it kind of depends. What are you really seeking there? So if you're aiming to practice something, let's say gratitude, you could keep talking in your head about things you're grateful for. But that actually doesn't go real deep. You intend the gratitude in what you're saying more and more deeply. As you're really more deeply intending it, you'll see that you move away from the beta chatter in your head and you start getting into a deeper sense of affection.
