If there is something that i always seek to keep, then it must be dear to me. So what is the one thing that we never seek to get rid of? It is my own self. Everything else i may seek to get or get rid of, but the self we never want to preserve. Immediately, somebody will say, what about icide? But notice, even in the case of suicides, it's always something external. My own existence is not my problem. Then one would be always be suicidal all the time.
