He had called a senate meeting for that day before he left the city and embarked upon his next great military campaign. His ultimate goal was a campaign of vengeance against the parthian empire east of the euphrates river. The previous night, calpernia, caesar's wife, had dreamt that something terrible would befall him if he ventured to the senate meeting. One version has calpernia envisaging their house, collapsing.
