The Revisionist History of John F. Kennedy
80 years ago, a young lieutenant named John F. Kennedy was stationed in the Solomon Islands when his World War II patrol boat was sunk by a Japanese destroyer. To find food, JFK swam to surrounding islands before two allied islanders scouts came to their rescue. His actions earned him a navy and Marine Corps medal and a purple heart. He's the only president who have received that medal.
