The Chip War Started Three Years Ago in 2019-2020
US restrictions on China's ability to access high-end chip semiconductor wafers and lithographic machinery began three or four years ago. The US restricted Huawei, the Chinese mobile phone and telecoms company from getting access to 5G chips. As a company, they were locked out of 5G chips and that really hammered their mobile phone sales - I believe more than half.
