Gretton: What is Matthew accomplishing in chapter 27? Gretton: I think one of the thing that I would kind of want to hone in on is the blood of the covenant 2628. He says Jesus' death is establishing this covenant for the forgiveness of sins through the shedding of his blood. "I just think that the narrator is calling our attention repeatedly to this theme of blood," Gretton says.
