The Relationship to the Stranger
The Israelites came to Egypt through Joseph, and we're going to see how it's going to have some impact in what happens to them while they're in Egypt. The relationship to the stranger is one of the keys to looking at the story in Exodus. It's important to understand that you can have a proper relationship with the stranger, but if the Pharaoh forgets you, because the Pharaoh has forgotten what Joseph has done for him. And so when he would then turn around and act on the Israelis' behalf, this was part of what created the tyrant.
