The Importance of Learning From the Manhattan Project

I saw an interview in Wired magazine with Christopher Nolan. He just came out with a new film Oppenheimer. And there was some analogy he was drawing between sort of the creators of AI and the creators of the atom bomb. I haven't given a lot of thought to it, but it occurred to me very early on that you've created something that is clearly enormously powerful and could be highly destructive, potentially. And therefore, there's enormous social and political responsibility in handling it.
