Jesus Isn't Who You Think He Is

Jilin and lowly is a new book by Jonathan Safran Foer. In it, he argues that Jesus isn't who you think he is based on your own intuitive reflexive intuitions about what he must be like. He says there's only one place in all four gospels where Jesus himself opens up his interiority or rib cage to say, here's my heart. The Bible tear down our natural ways of thinking about God and of Christ, which are bigger, better, nicer, smiley, or versions of us.
