The origins of saturn are quite simular to the roman tradition, as told by macrobous. The primal being to emerge from chaos is colios, or cosmos. In this account, time is chaotic. This is why his principal festival in ancient rome, the famous saturnalia, was one of unbridled chaos. All social taboos and norms were gleefully violated for a week. And the masters would act as slaves. Everything was topsy turvy.
