The Complexity of Hong Kong
After Hanover, Hong Kong was given a mini constitution, it's called the Basic Law. Our common law system is nested within the common law system of the United Kingdom. The People's Republic of China adopted a civil law legal system. They have passed legislation which became the constitution for Hong Kong. This nesting of a common law jurisdiction within a civil law system just adds to its complexity.
