The Importance of Culture in Contemporary Art
Stuart Hall: I wanted to talk a bit about culture because there's clearly an attentiveness to culture in your work at the heart of Stuart Hall's work. One of the discussions that really delighted me in Red Star over the third world was your discussion of revolutionary art. In relation to one of Muhammad Iqbal's poems on Lenin you write here is the cadence of revolution the anger at the world as it is the hope that the fires of revolt will smash the state and produce a new order. so I think you may be um I'm still thinking through what a non-exclusionary nationalism might look like.
