The Long-Term View of Interest Rates
The cheapest two-year fix for a 75% loan to value mortgage is now 4.54%. It's gone up just under 0.3%. Five and 10-year fixes are cheaper than two-year fixes, but it hasn't gone up as much. The city believes interest rates will be worse over the next two years. New fixed rates move with the market's view of where interest rates will go in future.
