Is There a Time-Very Bias in Democracy?
Time-very bias is kind of a specific and tricky problem. The existing measurement models that they use don't account for the fact that perceptions might change over time. I think that there was all of this kind of heightened optimism around democratization in the kind of third wave countries in the early 1990s. And so maybe they're kind of more accurately coding harshly now and we were probably way too lax before.
