The Importance of Independent Scalability in Materialized Views
At materialize we've taken a lot of care to have independently scalable systems. Everything that you store gets stored in the cheapest possible. If you ingest data from Kafka or from Postgres, that gets written to an S3 bucket so that is stored as cheaply as possible. You can spin up multiple clusters, right, which are compute units that can be independently scaled to host your materialized views. And again, I don't think we're going back to zero microservices. I want minimal microservices where they're truly justified.
