Lawrence was a Puritan in the strictest sense of the word, which is a man who is bound by his own conscience. Sex shall be warm and embodied and loving and tender. He was very anti pornography and anti sexual violence. What he haters was women bringing themselves off after intercourse. If you don't, there has been no meeting of the bodies. It's just why it's so hard to understand what Lawrence means by sex.
