There are fears that by the West, seemingly ignoring Putin's threats or at least ramping up their own response to rhetoric, this increases the chances of him using some kind of tactical nuclear weapon. The best we can do from the outside as analysts and in fact as journalists covering this aspect of the war is to be really careful in not making the debate about it worse. It will be very important to both take those seriously but also not let them set off a chain of reactions that gets out of control. If the threats become more specific, if it involves tangible changes to Russia's nuclear posture, things moving about or alert or have you, it will be important to just tread really carefully.
