The Asymmetry Between the Cumulative Advance of Human Knowledge and Human Power Through Science and Technology

There's an asymmetry between the cumulative advance of human knowledge and of human power through science and technology. In ethics and politics, what is gained is lost if you look over a long period. The lessons in the past are often willfully forgotten by Western secular thinkers because they don't want to hear about them. And instead we think trade will liberalise China, it hasn't. You just don't have big parts of the economy independent of the army. It won't be a revolution from the Chinese state as she has re-concentrated herself on her own people whenever there's any whiff of dissent.
