Norman's Letters to Jeremy Thorpe
Jeremy Thorpe lives on a knife edge of danger, says Norman. What about you? Do you like living on the edge? No. But I have certainly lived in danger for much of my life because of your client,. Norman points directly at Thorpe. Tears spring to his eyes as the cruel questions keep coming. There are more mocking laughs. The judge only seems to encourage this cruelty. He accuses Norman of getting excited, constantly tells him to speak up, to get a grip. Before he can catch his breath, Carmen moves on to the letters Norman kept. You were being vindictive. You were trying to destroy Mr Thorpe, a statesman and a pillar of our establishment.
