Lawrence and the Arab Revolt
The ottoman empire's reach included what is today souty arabia. Briton saw these arab forces as potential allies. The british imagined this revolt would start in the arab peninsula and then reach up north, through syria to the arab forces. Lawrence helped the a prince fisel, who was the emir's son, who became the principal leader of the revolt. He wasn't a trained soldier, but on the fly he had to learn enough demolition to blow up railway trains.
