The Importance of Yamnaya Hospitality

Many historians have studied aspects of Yamnaya archaeology and many papers have been written on the subject. Much is made of the notion of hospitality within Yamnaya cultures. The word hospitality itself has strong cognate connections to other words in Indo-European languages. It directly relates to the Latin word Ospes which can mean both a host and a guest, both being the opposite transaction to the other. Experts have speculated that the relationship between hosts and guests was sacred and that it was a societal expectation that hospitality should be observed.
