The Uncertainty of Conservatism in the Real World
Umar: I think about contemporary conservatism in America, is it's very strange to figure out how that applies to the real world. Life expectancy or GDP per capita, productivity of universities do better in democratic controlled states than conservative ones. So you have this idea of conservatism that makes a lot of sense theoretically. But practically speaking, it comes incredibly unclear as to how you view all of that.
