There is no push towards people going into recovery in san francisco. We would have to build out allthe the agency and sort of a centers to be able to have that recovery available. When you're in the throes of addiction, you have no choices. Your only choice is to continue to use drugs. So coercion, while it sounds unpleasant and it sounds like an unhappy solution, is what is necessary to free you from your chemical enslavement. To pretend that this letting you continue to do drugs is giving you some sort of autonomy and free will and dignity ... That's an illusion, and it is the opposite of compassion.
