"It's become quite difficult, I think, for workers in the service industry," she says. "I don't really begrudge them asking for 30 or 20% and then at the end of the day, it is optional to hit the tips ... So it doesn't seem like a huge issue." She adds that restaurants are trying to create variable prices for different people by charging based on how much they can afford to pay.
