Petrarch, Erasmus, and the Reformation of the Catholic Church

Petrarch was a leader in this resurgence of classical literature. It led to people thinking outside the box about categories, identity and ethics. erasmus advocated for returning to original source documents like the greek and hebrew manuscripts. Less than a generation later, luther hoped to reform the catholic church from within.
