Huxley: The soul is defined as the first principle of life of those things which live. We like having a heart, but that's not the first principle; it isn't anything until it combines with a with form. He says Thomas Aquinas meant by matter, prime matter or potentiality. Huxley writes Brave New World in 1932 and came back 35 years later to ask himself what did I get right and what do I get wrong? That was called Brave New World Revisited.
