Is the Indian Chita Extinct?

If you have a large animal, then it's easier to observe it. The last time the indian chita was observed was more than a hundred years ago. A certain species of bird can only thrive in a forest there is a certain kind of tree. And now we know those forests are no longer there. So it's harder to tell whether such species are extinct or not compared to a species of animals that live on land.
