"You will never hope in Christ to the degree that I think that I can lick this stuff by some steps of self-reformation," he says. "Ultimately human beings are hopeless please hear me hopeless apart from a savior mm-hmm that's the gospel yeah and yet we want to sort of cobble together some some sense of self-hope." He also talks about how God always gives us more than we can handle it, like Paul Tripp 20 years ago when he got out of seminary.
