The Evolution of Human Anatomy

Around two million years ago the fossil record shows us that human anatomy had changed to give us a smaller gut. We also started to develop smaller teeth and jaws around this time which is consistent with a shift to foods that were softer, easier to chew and to digest. Richard argues that this change came about because our ancestors had discovered what fire could do to their food. They'd started to regularly consume a cooked diet and their bodies adapted to it.
