Mud-Based Construction Practices in the City of Shabam

The city of Shabam is located in modern-day Yemen. It's situated on top of a rock spur at the southern tip of the Rubal Kali Desert, which means empty quarter. There are more than 500 of these structures inside the city walls. Some sources say some of them are up to 12 stories tall; other sources say the tallest are more like seven stories.
