Is Art a Crisis?
I really encounter the same idea about how like art matters to what extent, and specifically during the time of crisis. I think that's a lot of the problems or paradoxes or contradictions we get to when we start thinking about the avant-garde in terms of our contemporary situation. The whole impetus to make art life, to make art over into life, only makes sense on the understanding that the life that you're being integrated to is something else. It's a utopian mode of thinking whether it's explicitly linked to politics or not. In other words, making art life is just making it into more, more commodities, making itinto more, more capitalism.
