Two people with a borderline personality disorder diagnosis may only have one diagnostic criteria in common. Individual differences and different presentations and experiences of the disorder make it difficult to categorize, diagnose, treat and even identify with other people that have BPD. So all of these differences in severity and presence matters for medical professionals who need to classify and categorize us so they can prescribe meds if need be.
