The Influence of Henry George on Liberalism
Chris is a lecturer at Georgetown University and the author of the new book Land and Liberty about Henry George. Chris: Was he a conservative in some ways? Was he pointed towards the left? Was he a liberal? Was he something else entirely? I find him fascinating precisely because he is able to bridge this divide, but I think that this is not as unusual as we might see it today. He represents a tradition of liberalism that always was critical of certain types of property and was never as gung-ho about the market as we see it now.
