Queer Uses of Uniforms in Fetish Clubs
Uniforms and creative variations on them still feature in berlin's queer sub cultures. These clubbers that queer uses of uniforms extend beyond institutions like schools and the army. Their sexual appeal and their use to signal community are important in sub cultures too. London's torture garden, for example, one of the world's biggest fetish clubs, host's specific uniform themed parties. And uniform inspired looks are always common at its events. This is a scene where authentic uniforms do carry cachet, but imagination and invention with uniforms are equally prized.
