Jacques Danton's Paris Re Districting

Danton didn't care much for mara. But the force of mara's onslaught was undeniable. When the central commune government had finally had enough of mara and sent in bailiffs, backed by three thousand national guardsmen to arrest him he openly defied them. In january 17 91, danton was finally elected to an official position when he got himself a seat on the governing board of the newly created department of paris. So though the position came with little real power, it was nice to have a salary finally to help underwrite his revolutionary expenses.
