In the mid-80s, some hospitals in South Wales got blood contaminated with HIV. The supplies of Factor 8 that were contaminated had been imported from the U.S. It was seen as almost like a sort of miracle treatment for hemophiliacs. But it proved profoundly damaging to many of them. And when did the NHS and the government accept that this has happened? Almost 40 years ago,. but what's taken a painfully long time is to get to the point of achieving any sort of workable compensation.
