There's no way to test it directly. We're not really sure what the heck's going on. But this is what i'm getting at though, is this idea that the genes might actually be the cause of certain means. Now, here's where things get interesting. Could you test this theory that the wester mark effect is distinct from the incest taboo? Because a counter theory might go something like this, there is no western mark effect, but instead, there is an incest taboo. And yet we end up with the same explanation, but its faress is far more mumetic and far less genetic explanation.
