The Importance of Storytelling
When I tell that story, live, people cry all the time. And I get a little emotional. But what I always point out is when I'm going through a windshield and dying in the back of an ambulance, no one cries. They just blink at me. It's not until my friends show up later and become my family that people get all weepy. No one understands what it's like to be forgotten or left behind by someone they love. So that's not a story about the car accident. You know, the car accident is really just the vehicle, no pun intended, to get me into an emergency room where something really significant happened to me once.
