How to Maintain Good Code Practices in the Lab

I'm developing a rule book for the lab that would be one of my projects now. I want to spend like a good year setting up some good foundation for the lab in terms of technological data management. There's so many things that I have to learn between now and then. We'll see how much of a pipe during these things are, but you never know.
