I think the middle class flies in the face of this idea. It's not just white, it's like a very diverse middle class that we have. And I think you're seeing a lot of what's interesting in this moment right now is seeing people from the middle class who might be Muslim at the school boards and in Florida. Now you're having to reckon with the working class in a way that they didn't have to before. That used to be a kind of agreed upon principle. Politicians would orient their campaigns towards reflecting the values and serving interests of the middle class.
