The Upside of a Government Program Expanding to Public Universities
Sen. Warren's free college plan would cost an estimated $240 billion a year, but she says it will only apply to public universities. The number of zeros in that figure is eye watering, and you could see this quadrupling to a trillion dollars a year if the program goes through. A college education is either valuable or it isn't; there's really no economic argument for government involvement here at all.
