The Power of Self-Centeredness

The world shines more because we are not ignoring all the low level perceptual, beautiful details. We come back with our sense of self a little bit empty, less rarefied. And so yes, we can feel the emotions that are arising, the thoughts that are arising - but it's all a little lighter, less grippy, emptier. One can reconstruct one's world in different ways. I think there's a reason why religious traditions end up being sort of convergent on some ideas like compassion, like love. Because this is, in a sense, is a beautiful reaction when one self-centred.
