The Importance of Estimating Potential Outcomes

I think one of the things that causal inference is really good at and that uh, I continually try to teach is First, what is your estimate? Like what are we trying to estimate? What is the causal effect of interest? How do we define that? And then second step is to have a study design that tries to get tries to get you towards that estimate. Yeah For me then sort of my time at mathematica was incredibly useful because he like in graduate school I did mostly work on non-experimental designs and propensity scores.
