The Problem With the Housing Market in the UK
We did have fixed rate 25 year mortgages just before the financial crisis in 2007. But obviously they come with a higher interest rate than your short term fixes. People didn't take them up and then they got pulled from the market. Maybe our biggest problem is it affects everything, where people can move. Can they move to more productive areas like London? Not easily right now.
