Is There a Single Immortal Society?

Wellet says there has never been an immortal human soc and he's working on figuring out why. He thinks civilizations hand off all their knowledge to each other, which means vast amounts of it gets lost. There are about 12 collapses in recorded history that we could really classify as local dark ages. Wellet: Even if this is not true, even just in our recorded history, i think it' sort of kind of humorous to think that a, you know, our dual accomplishments can possibly outlast the society we are imbedded in.
