The Evolution of the Dunes After the Storm of December 5th

20 metres of the dune was eroded backwards. That left this vertical two-metre high, scarred all the way along the beach from just south of the Humbrestri to just north of Maybellthorpe. The grass here slows down the wind and traps the sand, so it will enable the dune to build up. And also the roots and old stems of the vegetation that are inside the dunes act a bit like steel and reinforced concrete and might prevent the dunes from being washed away. So it's important for us to understand what's here and how it recovers.
